AIDS FOR TUNNEL VISION

Firstly, it is important to note that there are several types of magnifiers that assist patients with tunnel vision. Below we cite in detail some of them.

The Ocutech Image Minifier (IM) intended for use by patients with restricted visual fields (tunnel fields) notably Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Glaucoma, and other visual disorders. This device reduces the image size, so that in effect, more is seen in the same amount of space. As a result, it enhances peripheral field awareness.  The patient can use this device by either holding it close to the eye or attaching it to eyeglasses.

The Ocutech Field Viewer (FV) is held at arm’s length and used as an aid in mobility and in other visual activities. It functions by reducing the image size, in effect, placing more visual information into the visual field.

The Ocutech InstaMount Field Expander (FE) is a smaller and lighter version of the Image Minifier. Similarly, The patient can attach it to eyeglasses using one of several different prescribing options.

Advantages of the Tunnel Vision Aids over other magnifiers:

  • Crisp, undistorted, flat field
  • Wide ocular lens permits scanning through the device
  • 50% field enhancement effect with minimal acuity loss
  • Prescribe as either spectacle mounted, or handheld with neck strap
  • Trial-ring version available for demonstration
  • No eye piece correction required
